Live Life Laughing

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter. ~e.e. cummings

About Me January 6, 2010

As a freshman girl in high school, I look forward to three and a half more years till graduation, and every moment between now and then. I would like to be able to look back on my high school experience and be proud of who I was and who I became.  Sports and school mean all the world to me, and I believe that the courage wolf motto “ bite off more then you can chew then…then chew it,” can be used in any situation. Nothing is impossible as long as you are willing to work for it. When I am not at school, I can be found on a soccer field working to achieve my goals and aspirations to become more then just the average soccer player. I believe strongly in the power of laughter and love making people smile.

I am a  young writer and I have always thought that hand writing assignments and big papers first, helped later when I needed to type them out. I have noticed that I am a very visual person and I like to physically have a piece of paper that I can reference during the actual writing of the paper on the computer. I also do this so that as I am typing I have the ability to change ideas and sentences around to make points stronger. When I don’t have the time to fully hand write the whole paper out, notes and outlines are also wonderful tools I like to use. After I write my paper, because I am a visual and physical learner, I print it out and correct it once more. After I make the revisions on the computer, I print my paper out for the final time and turn it in.

Being a visual learner who physically needs something to write on, I love when teachers give handouts and papers. But, my favorite form of learning comes in the form of power point presentations. I feel as if I will retain mostly all the information in a power point because there are usually descriptive pictures of the subject matter, and also they contain only the key facts. Power points are concise and always interesting.  Projects in the form of power points are also easy and entertaining to make and perform in front of the class. The most effective way for me to learn is in the form of a power point.

Being a student learner, I am most interested in the study of science. It intrigues me because there is a strong visual and physical component to science that I am encouraged by.  For example, last year I dissected a pig’s heart and after exploring and looking at the heart I realized the textbooks aren’t lying to me. What I mean by that is that this information is relevant to life. This experience was when I realized that I was a physical learner and I needed something to do with my hands but at the same time I needed to learn. Science best suites how I am able to learn, which I believe causes my attraction to the subject.
